As Summer Hits, Efforts to Find Cheap Holidays Begin

The search is on. For cheap holidays that is. With Britain suffering one of the worst recessions it has ever been through, British holidaymakers are being forced to tighten their belts and search for the cheapest holiday packages they can find.

With a double dip recession official, and unemployment hitting almost nine percent, the British economy is punch drunk and staggering. However summer is also arriving and so determined Brits are looking to find cheap holidays while the sun is shining.

A recent Guardian article quoted statistics that show that despite the hard economic times Brits are still likely to splurge on ‘luxury’ items, like a takeaway coffee or a package holiday somewhere sunny and exotic.

The good news is that many travel agencies and websites will be offering juicy deals in order to tempt holidaymakers. Among the top locations will be many of the usual suspects, including Greece, Egypt, Turkey, the Canary Islands, and more.

Of course there are also many travel agencies that offer good deals on city breaks to European capitals like Rome, Paris or Barcelona or across the Atlantic to New York and other American destinations.

Thomas Cook vacations are currently some of the best deals on the web, offering such bargains as seven nights in an Egyptian resort for under £400. Another plum from Thomas Cook is Greece for seven nights for under £200.

For those who are more on the disorganised side of things and fail to plan ahead last minute deals can be had fairly easily these days.

Much of Europe is also suffering from the downturn, especially Greece, which could translate to more juicy deals and increased spending power for Brits in places like Turkey and Greece.
